Transportation Planned Around the Passenger

Children & Teens

Coordinate transportation with a parent, guardian, or referring care team. We review the passenger’s needs, consent, and any accompaniment or supervision requirements before confirming the trip.

Adults

Discuss transportation to behavioral health treatment, between facilities, or home after discharge, including requests involving additional behavioral support during travel.

Families & Care Teams

Work with our team to coordinate pickup, destination, passenger needs, and receiving-facility details so everyone understands the transportation plan.

Tell Us What Helps the Passenger Feel Supported

Every trip starts with understanding the person traveling. Knowing what may cause distress—and what helps the passenger communicate or feel more comfortable—helps our team review the request and plan appropriate accommodations.

Our team can review requests involving:

  • Mental health conditions, including care related to psychosis.
  • Substance use treatment, including requests involving withdrawal-related concerns.
  • Communication and sensory accommodations for autistic passengers.
  • Behavioral distress or concerns about aggression or self-injury.
  • Mobility assistance and additional supervision needs.
  • Transportation following treatment or discharge.

Please share relevant care-team instructions, known triggers, communication preferences, and strategies that have helped during previous trips.

Service suitability depends on the passenger’s current condition and the support required during travel. Each request is individually reviewed before booking.

How to Arrange Behavioral Health Transportation

1. Contact Our Team

Share the passenger’s age, pickup location, destination, and requested date and time. Let us know whether the trip is for an appointment, facility transfer, discharge, or a crisis-related transportation need.

2. Review Passenger Needs

Discuss mobility, communication, sensory preferences, supervision, and relevant behavioral concerns. Provide care-team instructions and disclose any sedation or need for monitoring during travel.

3. Confirm the Transportation Plan

Our team reviews service suitability and availability, then confirms pricing, passenger and companion arrangements, and pickup and arrival details.

For hospitals and referring facilities:

Have a care coordinator’s contact information, receiving-location details, and relevant transportation instructions available when calling.

Specialized Vehicles. A Compassionate Approach.

Crisis Care Behavioral Transport uses purpose-built, modified SUVs and transport vans designed for behavioral health transportation. Vehicle features include secure passenger compartments, physical partitions, and video monitoring.

Our transport personnel receive training in verbal de-escalation, Mental Health First Aid, and trauma-informed care. These approaches support respectful communication and help staff respond to distress while keeping the passenger’s dignity central to the trip.

Before transportation is confirmed, contact our team to discuss:

  • The vehicle and features available for the trip.
  • Seating, boarding, and accessibility accommodations.
  • Passenger supervision and companion arrangements.
  • Communication preferences and sensory considerations.
  • Pickup, handoff, and arrival procedures.

Built From a Parent’s Understanding

For Steven Holt, President of Holt Transport, the need for this service is personal.

As a father of two autistic children, including a child with substantial communication and support needs, Steve understands how stressful transportation can become when a loved one experiences distress or challenging behaviors.

His 15 years of hands-on caregiving experience helped inspire Crisis Care Behavioral Transport. The goal is to give families a transportation option that recognizes their concerns, listens to what their loved one needs, and approaches each trip with compassion and respect.

Behavioral Health Transportation Questions

  • What is behavioral health transportation?

Behavioral health transportation helps individuals travel to mental health treatment, counseling, psychiatric facilities, substance use treatment programs, and other care settings. Crisis Care Behavioral Transport reviews each passenger’s needs and uses specialized vehicles and trained personnel to support the trip.

  • What is Crisis Care Behavioral Transport?

Crisis Care Behavioral Transport is a division of Holt Transport Services, LLC, focused on transportation for children and adults with behavioral health and related support needs.

  • Can you help with transportation during a mental health crisis?

Contact our team to discuss the passenger’s situation and any referring care team’s instructions. Crisis-related transportation requests are reviewed individually to determine whether the available vehicle, staffing, and support are appropriate. Transportation is not confirmed until that review is complete.

  • Is this an ambulance or emergency response service?

This is a specialized transportation service. Do not use a transportation request to seek emergency medical care or immediate emergency response. For an immediate medical emergency or immediate danger, call 911.

  • Do you transport children and teens?

Contact our team with the passenger’s age and transportation needs. We review eligibility, consent, and any guardian, accompaniment, or supervision requirements before confirming the ride.

  • Can you accommodate an autistic passenger?

Tell us about the passenger’s communication style, sensory preferences, mobility, and supervision needs. Sharing known triggers and strategies that help the passenger feel more comfortable allows our team to review available accommodations.

  • What if the passenger has a history of aggression or self-injury?

Please discuss these concerns when requesting transportation. Share relevant care-team instructions, known triggers, and support strategies. Our team will review whether the passenger’s needs can be supported during the trip. Acceptance is determined individually.

  • Can you transport someone receiving care for psychosis or withdrawal?

Contact us with the passenger’s current transportation requirements and the referring care team’s instructions. These requests require an individual review of the support needed during travel and whether the service is appropriate.

  • What if the passenger has received sedation?

Notify our team before scheduling and provide the treating facility’s transportation instructions, including any monitoring or clinical support requirements. A ride cannot be confirmed until those needs have been reviewed.

  • What training do transport personnel receive?

Transport personnel receive training in verbal de-escalation, Mental Health First Aid, and trauma-informed care. Contact our team to discuss the staffing and support available for a specific trip.

  • What makes the vehicles different?

The service uses modified SUVs and transport vans with behavioral health transportation features, including secure passenger compartments, physical partitions, and video monitoring. Our team can explain the vehicle and features available for the requested trip.

  • Can a family member or caregiver ride along?

Discuss accompaniment when requesting transportation. Our team will confirm seating availability, vehicle arrangements, and any requirements for the trip.

  • Can a hospital or treatment facility arrange the ride?

Yes. A facility representative can contact our team to discuss passenger requirements, pickup and receiving-location details, and transportation availability.

  • How much does transportation cost?

Contact our team with the route, requested timing, and passenger needs. Pricing and transportation arrangements are confirmed after the request has been reviewed.
